Jane Short MA RCA, Enameller

Commissioning Work

Although Jane sometimes sells jewellery through galleries, most larger work is made to commission. A small bowl may cost around £1,000 – larger or more decorated pieces could cost in the region of £4,000 to £20,000 upwards.

The commissioning process begins with a discussion with the client. Rough sketches are then made, and after further consultation, a final design is reached. After an initial payment the piece is constructed, then engraved, enamelled and finished. As all work is carried out by hand the complete process may take some time, so items for special occasions are often best planned well in advance.
